There are many definitions of Distributed Ledger Technology. Some are technical and sophisticated, some are simple but incomplete. Probably one of the good and accurate definitions of DLT (or Distributed Ledger in short) I have encountered is on the good old Wikipedia:
A distributed ledger (also called a shared ledger or distributed ledger technology or DLT) is a consensus of replicated, shared, and synchronized digital data geographically spread across multiple sites, countries, or institutions.
